In this course, we consider which research questions are best answered with qualitative methods, and when/if qualitative and quantitative approaches should be combined. We examine different qualitative research designs, and their relationship to causal claims. We consider different types of qualitative data, with a focus on interviews. We discuss the analysis and presentation of qualitative data. We consider how qualitative methods can be used in program and policy evaluation.
